Divers make final checks

 Mobilization in Port Canaveral, FL

It was down to the wire getting all our systems to go after the wear they suffered in transit. After Edgetech engineer Alan Neel detected a short on the X-Star hydrophone cables, the hardworking Navy divers were sent down again to regrease and reconnect the underwater connectors--presto, the problem went away and X-Star started making beautiful (if somewhat monotonous) images of the bottom of Port Canaveral harbor.

The Laser Line scanner took an all-nighter from Raytheon engineers Rich Regan and Mark Wright before the glitch in that system was eliminated. Turned out that a bit of old wiring had gotten pinched. Another brief session with making up connectors had that system going great as well.

All hands are busy on NR-1 getting her reactor powered up for the transit. At long last, NR-1 Gulf Tour is getting underway!
